Our mission

Don’t Waste Durham works to reduce the amount of trash produced in our community – by preventing it in the first place!

Don't Waste Durham works toward its mission by:

  • Implementing prevention programs that eliminate single-use disposables like polystyrene foam takeout containers and plastic bags;

  • Advocating for evidence-based policy change around waste reduction; and

  • Raising awareness about waste reduction and encouraging reusable, compostable, and recyclable alternatives.
