Our mission

Don’t Waste Durham works to reduce the amount of consumer waste produced by our community.

Don't Waste Durham works toward its mission by:

  • Implementing prevention programs that eliminate single-use disposables like polystyrene foam takeout containers and plastic bags;

  • Advocating for evidence-based policy change around waste reduction; and

  • Raising awareness about waste reduction and encouraging reusable, compostable, and recyclable alternatives.

Don’t Waste Durham is grateful to Keep Durham Beautiful for their fiscal sponsorship. This means DWD enjoys their legal and non-profit status while we work toward becoming our own registered non-profit organization. Our work would not be possible without them. Thank you, KDB!
